The Quantum Doula Cohort is a live, immersive three-month training led by Coté Garceau and Jess Shine, two experienced birth workers and Matrona teachers who have answered the call to carry the wisdom and philosophy of The Matrona forward for the next generation of students.
Together, Coté and Jess bring experience from hundreds of births, years of supporting families through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum, and a deep commitment to protecting the physiology, mystery, and transformational nature of birth.
At the heart of this program are the teachings of Elder Midwife Whapio Diane Bartlett, whose decades of work have shaped generations of doulas and midwives around the world. Students will receive hours of carefully selected video teachings from Whapio’s lifetime of work, woven throughout the cohort alongside live teaching, mentorship, practical skills, business guidance, and community support.

Program Structure
The Journey
~ January 6th to March 31st ~
The Quantum Doula Cohort unfolds over three months, from January through March 2027.
We gather every Wednesday at 5:00 PM Eastern for four hours of live teaching with Coté and Jess.
These weekly classes are the heart of the cohort. Each gathering weaves together holistic birth education, physiology, the altered state of consciousness, doula skills, real-life birth experience, business mentoring, discussion, demonstrations, reflection, and integration.
You will not simply learn what to do.
You will learn how to be with birth.
How to recognize when less is more.
How to protect physiology rather than disturb it.
How to support the birthing person, the partner, and the room.
How to witness without taking over.
How to become a grounded, reassuring presence when birth is intense, unpredictable, and transformative.
Whapio’s teachings remain woven throughout:
Students will also receive hours of selected video lessons from Elder Midwife Whapio, drawn from decades of teaching holistic birth to doulas and midwives across the world.
These lessons carry some of the foundational teachings of The Matrona — undisturbed birth, physiology, altered states of consciousness, wisdom keeping, presence, and the deeper role of the doula.
Whapio’s voice and philosophy remain at the heart of the journey, while Coté and Jess guide students in bringing these teachings into their own hands, voices, and professional practice.
