I started looking into how engineers decide which methods to use for testing metal strength, and I had no idea the system was so detailed. There are standards, classifications, specific procedures — it’s way more than just applying force and observing the result.

Oh absolutely, and you can’t really make sense of any of that unless you understand the basic concepts of metallurgy first. I came across an article that explains things step by step, and right in the middle of the explanation there’s a link — here it is metallurgy and the section right after it goes into microstructure analysis and why it’s so crucial.
