How practical is it to add a TV lift to an apartment?

I’ve been rearranging my small apartment and keep thinking about hiding the TV when I’m not using it. A friend mentioned lift systems, and now I can’t get the idea out of my head. The living room is tiny, so anything that frees up visual space sounds like a win, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the trouble of installation. Has anyone tried adding one at home? I’d love to hear if it actually makes everyday living more comfortable or if it’s just a cool gadget.

I installed one last year when I redid my shelves, and honestly it surprised me how quickly I got used to it. I went with one of the tv lifts https://www.progressiveautomations.ca/collections/tv-lifts options because they seemed sturdier than others I found online. The biggest perk for me is that the TV isn’t the main visual focus anymore — the room feels calmer, and I don’t worry about dust or accidental bumps. I did the install with a friend, and while we had to measure carefully, the process wasn’t as intimidating as I expected. If you enjoy a clean, minimal look, it might be worth considering.
