| At The Matrona, we believe that birth is a sacred and transformative experience, and we teach midwifery, doula trainings, and women's arts in a sacred manner. We believe that the knowledge of birth and healing belongs to everyone, and is an integral part of our heritage. Our Holistic Doula Training Program is expansive in scope and is a complete program for exploring the childbearing continuum. It consists of a series of four weekend classes with emphasis on deepening the knowledge of childbirth. In addition to providing you with a thorough (and holistic) understanding of labor and birth, we cover basic anatomy and physiology, sexual wisdom, postpartum and the newborn, breastfeeding, and homeopathy and herbs for the childbearing year -- all in the holistic paradigm. This program can enhance any existing Doula Training you may have, as well as prepare you for the birth of your own child. The cost is $600 for the series. Certification is available for an additional fee, on attendance of all classes and fulfillment of requirements listed here. Finally, you can meet our instructors, who have nearly four decades of cumulative experience, apprenticing with birth. Our programs travel! Whapio and Eileen are available to offer a Holistic Doula Series in your area.
