Become A Matrona Certified
Holistic Doula!

Requirements for Certification

* Attend all four weekends of a Matrona Holistic Doula
Training series

* Complete and document required reading

* Attend a full series of childbirth education classes as an observer
(not as an expectant parent);
or submit documentation (parent
evaluation forms and a class outline, for instance) of your experience
as a childbirth educator

* Attend a 4-meeting series of La Leche League meetings;
or
document 5 contact hours with a Lactation Consultant, peer
counselor, or other breastfeeding educator;
or document your
experience as a breastfeeding educator

* Complete and document 4 hours of pregnancy massage instruction;
or document your experience in therapeutic massage, specifically as
regards training/experience in pregnancy massage

* Listen to and view five required audio- and video tapes

* Provide labor, birth and postpartum support to three
women/families:

- You must do a minimum of 3 postpartum visits

- Only one of your certifying births may be a cesarean section

- Document your experience through good evaluations from
mother/family and one caregiver (nurse, midwife, or physician)
present at the birth

- If your caregiver evaluation is from a physician, either document
his/her presence at the birth for multiple hours, or provide a second
caregiver evaluation from a nurse or midwife who was present

* Provide copies of required forms and records

* Sign Sacred Contract
